WE really like and use the 4 different sounds ie. Thankfully I can sleep through the night now. It has a volume "knob" which is easy and more accurate than pushing buttons. For those who use them, there are many nature and fan noises from which to choose. I live in NYC and there's monster HVAC unit in a landing near our bedroom window.Easily adjusting the volume knob, I found the right volume which cancels out the outside noise and is low enough for me to sleep. From many choices, I found the low pitch "white noise" which works for me. I needed a machine w/ an audio outlet and this is the best machine I've ever used. It is directional, but I solved that by pointing the machine away from the sleeping person and bouncing it off a wall. Good volume control, whether you want it very quiet or very loud. I enjoy cycling through the deeper brown noise settings, the medium noise settings (would that be pink?) and the higher white noise settings.
(It doesn't really cover any noises, but it relaxes her.) There is a range of white noise settings that my husband enjoys, as he prefers the higher noises. There is a lullaby setting that my daughter loves, which I switch to brown noise after she falls asleep so cars, dogs, etc don't wake her up. This has a great, low brown noise setting that my daughter and I love (like waves rushing together, a deep white noise sound that is the BEST at erasing outside noises). I was expecting to pay $50+ for a decent sound machine. I decided to look and see if there were any decent, cheap-ish options on Amazon.
However, I've been using it less and less for her due to fear of wearing out my phone. We've been addicted to the iPhone app TMSoft's Brown Noise setting since my daughter was born 4 years ago. This machine is better for us because it is steady and can play all night long. I'd been trying to use my echo dot for evening rain/thunder sounds however, the various tracks run on different volumes so it would either be too quiet or too loud and when it changed to a new track it caused frustration. The basics of the fan or simple white noise options are great on this machine.įurther, the rain sounds are lovely. I have found my newborn/young babies always did better with those solid repetitive noises rather than intermittent things like waves and birds etc. I guess I didn't look close enough at the description however, I am really pleased with all the other sounds, in particular, the fan noise (which you don't find on most machines) is very soothing. and it is actually loud enough! win!! At first I was disappointed there was not an option for ocean sounds. I use one in my own room to drown out snoring. and then you can increase sound until it's rather loud. This Housbay Sound Machine has the option of being whisper soft. Some are really disappointing, in particular because they fail to be loud enough. With five children I feel like I have tried every sound, noise, and light machine out there. We are huge fans of white noise in our house.
